EXPERIENCE OF DERMATORFIBROSARCOMA PROTUBERANS ON THE RIGHT CHEEK
Choi Young-Teak

Ha Ji-Woon
Abstract
Dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans is a neoplasm which originates in connective tissue. The tumor usually occurs in persons between the ages of twunty and forty-five.

Clinically the lesion is irregular in contour, and rubbery and firm on palpation.

In the center, nodules of varying sizes appear to coalesce forming a continuous plaque. The growth of tumor is painless but which has been slowly incresing in size for a number of years. Despite their locally aggressive behavior, distant metastasis occurs with extreme rarity.

The local recurrence which follows about 20% of surgical excisions, but this is probable due to incomplete removal of lesion, It occurs most frequently on the anterior surface of the body to the right or left of the midline, with the perium-bilical and groin regions predominating. Authors experienced one case of dermato-fibrosarcoma protuberans on right cheek which was very rare to occur.

A 12 years old girl had received trauma on her right cheek by soipping down on 2 years prior to admission. After that slow protusion of her right cheek was noticed without any pain. After wide surgical excision of the lesions, reconstructed with retroauricular-temporal flap.

By follow-up check of the patient, the authors obtained of good results without recurrence.
